Advertising Policy

How FindEdition may display advertising when advertising services are enabled — and how we keep ads distinct from editorial judgment.

Last updated: July 25, 2026 About 8 min read

At a glance

FindEdition may display advertising on findedition.com when advertising services are enabled. Ad systems are controlled by configuration and consent where required. We do not claim that FindEdition is currently approved for any particular third-party ad network program. When ads, sponsorships, or paid placements appear, they should be recognizable as commercial content.

  • Advertising is optional infrastructure — defaults can keep network ads off until enabled.
  • Consent for personalized ads may be stored in a CMP cookie (including fe_ad_consent).
  • Advertisers do not approve unpaid editorial articles before publication.
  • Affiliate links are covered separately in our Affiliate Disclosure.

Overview

FindEdition funds product development and operations through a mix of approaches that can include subscriptions, tips, marketplace fees, professional services, and advertising. Advertising is one possible channel — not the definition of the site. Entertainment discovery, tools, recipes, and community features exist to serve readers first.

This Advertising Policy explains when ads may show, how we label commercial content, how consent interacts with ad delivery, and which creative we refuse. It should be read with our Privacy Policy, Cookies policy, Editorial Policy, and Affiliate Disclosure.

Nothing on this page is a guarantee of ad inventory, fill rates, or partnership acceptance. Brands interested in working with us should contact the addresses below rather than assuming a live campaign is already running.

When Advertising May Appear

FindEdition may display advertising when advertising services are enabled in site configuration. Third-party network ads (including Google AdSense-style integrations) are gated behind enablement flags that can default to off. First-party or direct-sold placements may use separate controls.

Because enablement can change, readers should not treat the absence of ads on a visit as a permanent promise, nor treat the presence of an ad unit as proof of approval status with any named network. We intentionally avoid marketing claims such as “AdSense approved” on this policy page.

Some sections or experiences may suppress ads for product reasons (for example, certain tools or logged-in workflows). Suppression is a product choice, not a statement about network status.

Types of Advertising

Display & network ads

Standard image or text units served into reserved slots when a network or first-party ad server is enabled and consent rules allow delivery.

Sponsored posts & branded content

Articles or modules paid for by a brand. These must be labeled “Sponsored,” “Paid Partnership,” “Advertisement,” or clear equivalent language near the top.

House ads & cross-promotions

Promotions for FindEdition features, newsletters, tools, or related projects. These are still commercial in nature when they solicit a conversion, even if no third party pays.

Affiliate commerce

Links that may earn a commission when affiliate features are enabled — detailed in the Affiliate Disclosure, not sold as unpaid reviews.

Labeling & Distinction

Readers should be able to tell advertising from unpaid editorial. Paid articles need a clear label. Ad slots should not masquerade as navigation or as “recommended reading” without disclosure. Native-looking formats still require honest labeling.

We do not present paid coverage as independent news. We do not sell the right to erase accurate critical reporting. If a brand sponsors a hub or newsletter placement, the sponsorship should be visible in that context.

Separation from Editorial

Sales and advertising conversations do not get a veto over news coverage, review scores, or entertainment ratings. Our Rating Methodology defines how scores are aggregated; advertising is not an input to that formula.

Staff and contributors should disclose conflicts when writing about entities they have a financial relationship with. Press releases may inform reporting; they are not republished as independent journalism without checking and adding context.

About FindEdition’s broader ownership and social-mission context (including Uninetra), see the About page. Mission commitments do not authorize undisclosed advertorials.

Prohibited & Restricted Creatives

We aim to refuse advertising that promotes illegal activity, scams, malware, deceptive financial schemes, hate, harassment, or exploitation. Adult and sensitive categories may be restricted by placement and audience rules. Ads that impersonate FindEdition UI or system messages are not allowed.

Because some ads are served by third parties when networks are enabled, absolute pre-screening of every creative is not always possible. Users can report abusive or misleading ads to [email protected] with a screenshot and URL. We will review and, where we control the placement, take action.

We do not knowingly sell links whose primary purpose is to manipulate search rankings in violation of search-engine guidelines. Paid links should use appropriate technical attributes where required.

Working With Brands

Brands may inquire about sponsored articles, newsletter mentions, hub takeovers, or display packages. Acceptance depends on fit, capacity, and policy compliance. We may decline categories that conflict with reader trust.

Entertainment partners should note that FindEdition pages are informational discovery surfaces — not a streaming or download service. Campaigns must not imply that FindEdition hosts copyrighted audiovisual works for playback.

Reader Experience Goals

When ads are enabled, we aim to avoid formats that fully block reading without a close control, that auto-play sound unexpectedly, or that mimic article buttons. Perfect enforcement across every third-party creative is not guaranteed; report problems and we will investigate.

Accessibility of ad iframes can be limited by third-party code. Our broader accessibility approach is described in the Accessibility statement. Feedback on barriers — including those introduced by commercial modules — is welcome.

Children’s privacy and sensitive categories deserve extra care. We do not design FindEdition advertising to target users based on sensitive personal inferences beyond what consent and partner policies allow. Parents and guardians who believe an ad was inappropriate for the context can report the URL and creative details to support.

Revenue from advertising, when present, helps sustain free discovery tools and editorial work. It does not entitle advertisers to rewrite ratings, suppress corrections, or demand that entertainment pages imply FindEdition hosts streamable copies of films. Those boundaries protect the long-term usefulness of the site for readers.
